# Commercial CCTV installation — MCI Electrical

> Commercial CCTV installation in Eastleigh, Southampton and surrounding areas by MCI Electrical. Hardwired cameras, recorders and remote access.

Need CCTV coverage for a shop, office, warehouse or commercial yard? MCI Electrical plans camera positions around entrances, working areas and vulnerable points, then installs the power, cabling, cameras and recording equipment. CCTV installation covers businesses across Eastleigh and the wider Southampton area.

## How this is priced

Nothing to pay for the quote, and nothing for the visit that produces it. The base price covers the recorder, the storage setup and standard cable routing, with specialist access or extra trunking priced once I have seen the site.
- CCTV installation: £1,450 for up to 4 cameras, then £325 per additional camera.
- Base pricing covers power supply setup, recorder configuration, local storage setup, and standard cable routing.
- High level external mounting requiring specialised access equipment or extensive structural containment is quoted following an initial site review.

## What makes footage usable

Usable footage comes from where the cameras point and how the light falls, not from the number on the box. I position cameras for the view you actually need, then set the recorder so the picture holds up at the times you care about.
- **Yards and trade counters:** Trade counters in Hedge End and logistics yards around Millbrook Docks need weatherproof cameras set at heights that prevent glare and capture clear vehicle registration plates.
- **Industrial units and offices:** Units on Peacock Trading Estate and offices in Solent Business Park require balanced focal lengths to cover entrances, loading bays, and interior corridors without dead spots.

## What is and is not included

It covers mounting the cameras, running the power and network cable, setting up the recorder and how long footage is kept, and getting it viewable on site and on your phone.

### Included
- Mounting internal and external cameras to solid structure or containment
- Routing power and network cabling back to a central recorder
- Setting up local recording drives and retention schedules
- Configuring network settings for local monitor viewing and mobile access
- Labelling cables and power supplies at the recording hub

### Not included
- Hiring specialised cherry pickers or scissor lifts for high level mounting
- Civil groundworks or trenching between separate outbuildings
- Ongoing cloud storage subscription fees

## Before I arrive

Before I arrive, have a think about the views that matter to you and how many days of footage you want to keep, since that sets the storage. Changing the date later is free.
1. **Clear camera locations:** Ensure access to planned camera locations, including removing stock or ladders from walls and corners where cameras will be mounted.
2. **Provide router credentials:** Have your local network router details and internet login credentials ready if you require mobile app or remote viewing setup.

## What you are left with

You are left with a system you own outright, footage you can find and export yourself, and a walk round at the end so you know how to use it.
- **Usable images:** Cameras are focused and adjusted to record clear, actionable footage across entry points, loading bays, and internal walkways.
- **Retention you chose:** The hard drive storage is configured to record continuously or on motion, holding footage for your required duration before overwriting.
- **Remote access that works:** Viewing software is connected to your local network and mobile devices, allowing you to check live and recorded footage securely.
- **No ongoing tie:** You own the hardware and storage directly. There are no monthly maintenance software locks or mandatory cloud contracts attached to the system.

## Questions I get asked

The questions I get asked most about cameras and footage.

### Can you install CCTV outside standard business hours?

Yes. David McInnes can complete installations outside your trading hours so your daily operations are not interrupted. Work outside your trading hours is charged at a different rate, and I will tell you that rate before I set off.

### Do I need an internet connection for the CCTV system to work?

No. The system records locally to the network video recorder without internet. However, if you want remote viewing on a phone or offsite computer, I will need to connect the recorder to your local internet router.

### Who owns the recorded video footage?

Your business retains full ownership and control of all recorded footage stored on the local recorder.

### How long does the hard drive store recorded video?

Storage length depends on camera count, resolution, frame rate, and drive capacity, typically configured for two to four weeks.
