Who needs emergency lighting installed

What happens on the day
We arrive as MCI Electrical, isolate the circuits we are working on, and stay on the job until the new lights have been tested.

Arrival and isolation
We meet the person on site, mark the fittings on the plan we quoted, and isolate the lighting circuits so staff are not working under live terminations.

Fit and connect
Bulkheads, downlights and exit signs go up on the marked points. We run any extra cable and containment, then bring each luminaire onto charge.

Test and certificate
Each fitting is switched to emergency mode so we can see it lasts. We restore the circuits, hand over the certificate and talk through how the test key works.
How this is priced
Emergency lighting installation starts from £195. We survey the rooms that need cover, fit the emergency luminaires and leave a certificate for the new installation.
- £195 is a starting price for a small workplace with a short run of fittings.
- Larger offices, warehouses and high bay areas cost more once the number of luminaires is known.
- Fittings, containment and any extra circuits are priced on the survey, not in the starting figure.
- Fixed wire testing is priced on the number of boards and circuits, not by the hour.
- Emergency lighting is priced per light, and the three hour test is priced separately.
- Repairs are priced item by item off the report, so you choose what to do and when.
- Work outside your trading hours costs a different rate, and I tell you what it is before I set off.
- Quotes are free, rescheduling is free, and there is no callout fee.
What you get after the lights are fitted
You are left with working emergency luminaires on the exits that were quoted, a certificate for the install, and a clear note of who still owns the fire duties in the building.
- Proposed locations
- We mark each luminaire on a simple plan before we drill, so stairs, corridors and final exits match the rooms on the quote.
- Who stays in charge of fire duties
- The person named on the fire risk assessment stays in charge of the building's fire duties. We fit the lights they asked for and leave the paperwork with them.
- Testing after the install
- After install the lights still need monthly flick tests and a yearly duration test. That is a separate visit, billed as emergency lighting testing from £145.

Will I get a certificate?+
Yes. The install is signed off as NICEIC in the MCI Electrical name. Periodic testing of existing lights is a different job.
Can you work out of hours?+
We answer the phone any time. Out of hours labour is emergency callout from £105 per hour. Booked installs run in opening hours unless we quote the out of hours rate.
Do you maintain the lights afterwards?+
We do not sell a maintenance plan. We can return for testing from £145 when you want the monthly or annual checks done.
