Who needs a commercial EICR
- An EICR is the electrical installation condition report. It is the written record of the fixed wiring in a workplace. We carry out this test for firms in Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford, Hedge End, Botley, Whiteley, Segensworth and Southampton.
- Managers book when the last certificate has run out, or when insurers and landlords ask for a current report on the wiring.

What happens on the day
We attend the premises ourselves. Power may need to come off circuit by circuit while we test.

Arrival and walk round
We meet you or the site contact, confirm which boards and areas are on the booking, and plan how to keep staff working where we can.

Testing the fixed wiring
We inspect and test the circuits, record readings and note damaged accessories, overloaded ways and any installation that does not meet the current standard.

Certificate before we leave
We complete the EICR, talk through the result, and leave the paperwork with you. If work is needed we quote that as a separate job.
How this is priced
Fixed wire testing, the commercial EICR, starts at £195. That starting price buys the inspection of the circuits on the booked visit and the certificate at the end.
- The starting price is for a small commercial premises. Extra boards, larger floor areas and three phase supplies take longer and cost more.
- Any repair found on the test is charged separately from £65 an hour.
- We give a written price before we start the inspection.
- Fixed wire testing is priced on the number of boards and circuits, not by the hour.
- Emergency lighting is priced per light, and the three hour test is priced separately.
- Repairs are priced item by item off the report, so you choose what to do and when.
- Work outside your trading hours costs a different rate, and I tell you what it is before I set off.
- Quotes are free, rescheduling is free, and there is no callout fee.
What you get after the test
You are left with a finished EICR and a clear list of what we found on the installation.
- Define the proposal
- Before we attend we set out in writing which boards, floors and circuits the visit will cover, so the starting price matches the building we will test.
- Each observation on its own line
- Each observation sits on its own line on the report. The overall result of the certificate is recorded apart from those individual notes.
- Match any requested record
- If you need the report against a named unit, tenant, board or asset list, we write the certificate so those names match what you asked to see on the paperwork.
- FI, further investigation
- FI means further investigation. We use it when a circuit or accessory needs more work before we can say it is safe to leave in service.
- Satisfactory or unsatisfactory
- The certificate carries one overall result. Satisfactory means the installation can stay in use. Unsatisfactory means coded work must be done before the wiring is left as found.
