What happens on the day
MCI Electrical remains responsible for the work. We attend, work through the building with you or the keyholder, and leave the certificate before we go.

Arrival and walk round
We meet you at the premises, confirm which floors and outbuildings are in use, and walk the escape routes so every fitting is on the list before the test starts.

Test of the fittings
Each luminaire and exit sign is put into emergency mode. We time the duration where the system allows it and mark any lamp, pack or sign that fails.

Certificate before we leave
Results go on the certificate with the address and the date. You keep that with the fire file. Failed items come as a separate written price if you want them repaired.
How this is priced
Emergency lighting testing and certificate starts at £145. That covers the on-site test of the fittings, a duration run where the system allows it, and the written certificate you keep with the fire file.
- The starting price is for a typical small office or shop. Larger warehouses, multi-floor blocks and sites with many self-contained fittings are quoted after we see the layout.
- Failed lamps, packs or wiring sit on a separate quote. Remedial work is not inside the test price.
- Out of hours testing is booked as an emergency callout and charged from £105 per hour on top of the test itself.
- Fixed wire testing is priced on the number of boards and circuits, not by the hour.
- Emergency lighting is priced per light, and the three hour test is priced separately.
- Repairs are priced item by item off the report, so you choose what to do and when.
- Work outside your trading hours costs a different rate, and I tell you what it is before I set off.
- Quotes are free, rescheduling is free, and there is no callout fee.
