Who books an office LED lighting upgrade
- Offices around Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford, Hedge End, Botley, Whiteley, Segensworth and Southampton still run old fluorescent tubes that flicker, hum and push the electric bill up. We change those fittings to LED for the people who work in the rooms.
- When a floor is between tenants the old battens show every stain on the ceiling. We strip them out and put LED panels or battens in so the next occupier walks into a working, even light.
- A tube that dies every few weeks means ladders in the middle of the working day. LED fittings last longer, so we are not back every month to change another starter.
- Fluorescent gear trays draw more power than a like for like LED. We size the new fittings to the desk layout so the room is brighter on less current.
What is and is not included
An office LED upgrade is the fittings, the wiring that feeds them and the paperwork that goes with the change. Check the lists against the rooms you want lit.

- Survey of the existing office fittings, switching and any emergency luminaires on the same circuits
- Written quote for the LED panels, battens or downlights we will fit
- Removal of the old fluorescent gear and safe disposal of the tubes
- Install, test and labelling of the new LED fittings on the existing lighting circuits where those circuits are sound
- Certificate for the lighting work once the room is back in use
Not included
- Warehouse, factory or high bay lighting, which is a separate LED high bay job
- A full office rewire or a new distribution board unless that work is quoted on its own
- Decorative feature lighting, furniture mounted task lights or blinds
What happens on the day
We arrive, change the fittings and leave the office with working LED lighting and the certificate. Three steps, in that order.

Arrival and isolation
We sign in, isolate the lighting circuits we will work on and protect desks and carpets. If staff are still in the building we work room by room so some of the floor stays lit.
- 02
Strip out and fit
Old battens and gear trays come down. New LED fittings go up on the same positions unless the quote moved a row to suit the desks. We reconnect, check switching and walk the room for dark patches.
- 03
Test and certificate
We test the completed lighting circuit, restore power and hand over the certificate for the work before we leave.
How this is priced
Office LED lighting upgrades start from £480. That starting price covers a small office or meeting room where we swap a modest run of fittings, leave the space usable and issue the certificate for the work.
- Larger open plan floors, high ceilings, emergency fittings tied into the same circuits, or a staged weekend changeover sit above the starting figure and we set that out in the written quote.
- We do not round or invent a figure. The written price is the starting price for the rooms we have seen, not a fixed or guaranteed total.
- We answer the phone at any hour. Booked office lighting work is done in our opening hours unless you book an out of hours slot.
- Fixed wire testing is priced on the number of boards and circuits, not by the hour.
- Emergency lighting is priced per light, and the three hour test is priced separately.
- Repairs are priced item by item off the report, so you choose what to do and when.
- Work outside your trading hours costs a different rate, and I tell you what it is before I set off.
- Quotes are free, rescheduling is free, and there is no callout fee.
What you get after the LED upgrade
You are left with working office lights, a written record of what changed and MCI Electrical on the job from the first visit to the last.
- Define the proposal
- Before any fitting comes down we write the rooms, the fitting type and the starting price so you can see what the £480 figure buys and what sits above it.
- Lighting priced on its own
- The lighting change stays on its own quote. Board work, data cabling or a charger for the car park is not mixed into the same line unless you ask us to price that work as well.
- Match any requested record
- If you already have a lighting layout or a list of fitting references, we match the new LEDs to those positions and note any fitting we could not reuse.
- Certification for the work
- When the last panel is live we issue the certificate for the lighting work. NICEIC is the accreditation we hold for that paperwork.

We can work room by room during the day or book the larger open plan change for a quieter slot. We answer the phone at any hour and booked work sits in our opening hours unless you take an out of hours visit.

Do you do warehouse or high bay LEDs on the same visit?+
No. Warehouse and high bay LED work is a different job with its own starting price. We will quote that separately if the building has both office and warehouse lighting.
Who turns up to do the work?+
We do. MCI Electrical remains responsible for the work. You deal with us from the first look at the fittings through to the certificate.
Do you offer a maintenance plan for the new lights?+
We do not run maintenance plans. If a fitting fails later you call us and we come back on a fault finding or callout visit.
