How this is priced

Fittings are priced per unit and access is priced on what your building actually needs, so the two are shown separately in the quote. Quotes are free and I will walk the floor with you before pricing anything.

  • Quotes cover standard fitting replacements on existing wiring circuits.
  • High level access equipment requirement is assessed for each site layout.
  • Disposal of old discharge lamps and fluorescent tubes is handled in accordance with waste regulations.
  • Fixed wire testing is priced on the number of boards and circuits, not by the hour.
  • Emergency lighting is priced per light, and the three hour test is priced separately.
  • Repairs are priced item by item off the report, so you choose what to do and when.
  • Work outside your trading hours costs a different rate, and I tell you what it is before I set off.
  • Quotes are free, rescheduling is free, and there is no callout fee.

What decides the price of a high bay job

The fittings are the straightforward part. What decides the price is how I get up to them: roof height, racking in the way, and whether a lift or a tower can be driven to every position.

Mounting height and floor access

Single storey distribution sheds in Segensworth or Hedge End Retail Park often require scissor lifts or boom lifts to reach fittings above high racking or floor stock.

Existing circuit condition

Commercial units along the M27 corridor or Chandler's Ford Industrial Estate may have machine circuits or older distribution boards that need inspection prior to connection.

Fitting types and controls

Replacing old discharge lamps with dedicated LED high bay fittings reduces circuit loading and removes high maintenance cycles in high ceiling units.

What is and is not included

This is what a high bay changeover includes, and what is arranged on top of it.

Included

  • Removal of existing sodium, metal halide, or fluorescent high bay fittings
  • Installation and connection of new LED high bay luminaires
  • Testing of modified lighting circuits and Earth loop impedance
  • Issuing of appropriate electrical installation certification

Not included

  • Complete rewiring of main lighting circuits or containment
  • Replacement of main distribution boards unless specified separately
  • Structural alterations to roof steelwork or ceiling suspensions

Before I arrive

Useful to know before I quote: the roof height, how many fittings there are, and whether the floor underneath them can be cleared for a lift.

  1. 01

    Clear space below fittings

Ensure floor areas beneath high bay lights and access routes for lift equipment are clear of pallets, vehicles, and stock.

  2. 02

    Isolate power to lighting circuits

Identify the distribution boards supplying the lighting circuits so power can be isolated safely during installation.

What you are left with

Even light across the whole floor on the same circuits, the old lamps and tubes taken away and disposed of properly, and the certificate the same day the work finishes.

Light where the work is
Modern LED high bay luminaires deliver targeted illuminance directly to working areas, picking aisles, and racking rows without dark spots.
A lower running cost
Lower wattage requirements across high bay fittings reduce electrical consumption for facilities operating continuous trading or shift hours.
No more lift hire for lamps
Longer component lifespans eliminate the recurring need to hire access machinery just to replace burnt out discharge lamps.
Certification for the work
You receive the required electrical certification detailing circuit test results and confirmation of safe installation.

Questions I get asked

The questions warehouses ask before changing to LED high bays.

Can high bay LED lighting be fitted to existing lighting circuits?+

Yes, I can usually connect new LED high bay fittings directly to your existing wiring points, provided the existing circuits and circuit protection pass safety checks.

How do you reach fittings installed at high ceiling heights?+

I use mobile elevating work platforms such as scissor lifts to access high bays safely. I will assess access and floor conditions before starting work on site.

Do old discharge lamps need special disposal?+

Discharge lamps and fluorescent tubes contain regulated materials and are removed and processed through accredited hazardous waste channels.

Will replacing high bays affect other equipment on the board?+

No, replacing light fittings reduces electrical load on the specific lighting circuit without affecting other distribution board connections.
